Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Monday undertook a challenging road journey to flood-ravaged Dantewada district in Naxal-affected South Bastar, marking the first such visit by a state chief minister in seven years. Travelling from Jagdalpur by road, Sai interacted directly with affected families, reviewed relief measures on the ground, and assured comprehensive support to restore normalcy in the worst-hit district.

The Chief Minister also carried out an aerial survey and ground inspection of flood affected Dantewada and Bastar districts, personally observing the extent of damage caused by the deluge. He reviewed the progress of relief and rehabilitation measures, underlining that timely assistance to every flood affected family remains the state government’s top priority. He called for sensitivity and urgency at all levels of administration to ensure swift delivery of aid.

In Dantewada, Sai visited a temporary relief camp at Chuditikra ward, where he met displaced residents and listened to their grievances. Reassuring families, he said the government stands firmly with every household impacted by the disaster. He directed officials to ensure uninterrupted availability of food, clean drinking water, and safe shelter in the camps until full rehabilitation is achieved. Immediate assistance for affected households has already been increased from ₹4,000 to ₹6,000, with full compensation under RBC norms to follow.

During his interaction with residents, the Chief Minister reassured families that the government would stand firmly by them until complete rehabilitation is achieved. “This is only the beginning, every possible assistance will be extended,” he said, adding that restoring normal life and rebuilding essential infrastructure in Dantewada remains the state’s immediate priority. His visit, combining both road travel and on-ground engagement, is being seen as a strong message of solidarity with people in one of Chhattisgarh’s most vulnerable and Naxal affected regions.
